The BC temporary rental supplement (BC-TRS) program is now in effect. It provides up to $500 per month to help renters and landlords during the Covid-19 pandemic. It was launched by BC Housing and has been available since March 25, 2020. The program provides a temporary rent supplement to assist eligible low to moderate income renters who are struggling to pay their rent as a result of income loss or reduction during the Covid-19 pandemic. The subsidy is paid directly to the landlords. It is available for April, May and June. To apply simply visit https://bctrs.bchousing.org/ to learn if you are eligible or not. The government is not withholding any tax on CERB which is a $2,000 a month benefit. The amount you will be taxed depends largely on how much income you earn overall in 2020. The income you receive from CERB and from your job will be taxed in the same way. You may want to consider arranging with your employer to have extra tax deducted from your pay. The BC Emergency Benefit for Workers benefit however is a onetime payment of $1,000 and it is tax free.

Americans can be eligible for the Covid-19 economic stimulus relief check. In most cases you do not need to apply unless the IRS asks you for additional information.
